I've had my Simple tough for about 3 months without ever experiencing any trouble, fortunately. So maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe hitachi changed something. Anyway I have no reason not to recommend this product if you want a sturdy drive. If you want something particularly small in size, find something else. Läs mer Översätt till svenska

Hitachi products have been very reliable for me. They seem to be Mac compatible, though a little hard to find in Fairbanks Alaska, so I have to resort to online shopping. I like a product line that is consistent, and this one has been very good to me. Läs mer Översätt till svenska
- This is my favorite external Hard Drive! I use it in the field, and between three different Mac computers. it is both durable and reliable.
- I used to think 500GB was a con, until my 1TB Drive from a different manufacturer failed. I"m going back to the Hitachi 500GB.

It may be nice looking and it sure caught my eye, but it's performance was very disappointing. I thought i would like the USB cable built in the unit with power. The cable is so short you would have to hold it depending on your port.You will need to buy an extension cable.I even bought a new 2.0 Hi-Speed USB 4 port card to try and get this thing to work better and have the ports closer to the floor. I gave this drive 2 stars because I owned it for about 2 months and then all of a sudden the drive was not being read by my laptop. I put in another drive just to see if it may have been a computer error and it was not it. I basically had to twist the cable and set the drive in a certain way to finally get the computer to read it. I did that in order just to get my stuff out. Läs mer Översätt till svenska

I purchased this drive because the usb cable was attached I take the drive back and forth with me to work saves lugging around a laptop but after 4 days of going back and fourth the usb cable developed a short in it and will only work in certain positions.
