Canon had a somewhat weird timing regarding the release of their EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS. It is extremely difficult to design such a lens to start with and more so under low-cost requirements. Combine these side conditions with the rather extreme quality requirements of a high resolution APS-C DSLR a la EOS 50D (@ 15mp) and this sounds like trouble. Overall this lens offers a good quality compromise for those looking for a convenient alternative to carrying multiple lenses. Sharpness levels hold up well for a lens of this type and the four-stop image stabiliser greatly increases the usability of this lens making it a perfect travel companion. Tamron offers as many as three such devices, there are two Sigmas, one Pentax, one Sony and one Nikkor (although, to be honest you must add that Nikon has launched two other lenses in this series lately). - average image quality on the edge of the frame,, chromatic aberration corrected weakly,, significant distortion,, huge vignetting,, distinct astigmatism at the shortes...

Trots att jag har Canons EF-S 10-22, EF-S 12-55, EF-S 17-85, EF-70-300 har det blivit att jag bara använt 28-200 på grund av att man inte släpar med sig fler objektiv. Hade från början Sigmas motsvarighet men gav bort det till utfluget barn och köpte Canons. Skillnaden i skärpa var knappt synbar. Nu har objektivet gått sönder samt att jag det senaste året haft problem då det ibland inte velat fokusera rätt och därmed har det inte gått att trycka av bild. Läs mer

- Mycket aberation i kanterna, men det har dessa superzoomar.

i did a lot of research before buying another lens and i bought this one and i am very happy. this is the only lens i will probably ever need. it is a little expensive but it is definately worth it. i tried the tamron lenses and there was no comparison on the speed of the lens and the coloring plus the tamron i tried didn't have IS built in. This is the perfect all around lens that will let you take professional pictures at an amateur level. Läs mer Översätt till svenska
- Super fast focus and very clear pictures. works very well indoors because its a 72mm lens.
- Nothing really just getting use to the big lens.

Riktigt trevligt allroundobjektiv! Passar nog bäst för hobbyfotografen. Jag ser inga problem med skärpan eller annat, men vet att de finns där. För min del är det dock värt massor att alltid ha ett objektiv som kan ta den bilden jag vill ta - oavsett vad det är! Med den här typen av objektiv är du alltid redo. Läs mer

I purchased this as an upgrade lens for my Canon Rebel XS. After reading many reviews I decided to give this lens a go, I was looking to upgrade from the kit 18-55, to a lens that could offer quality optics as well as an all-in-one lens. I am a mom and I primarily use my camera for pictures of my children to scenic views of our outings.
