    The Nikkor AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G ED N is a phenomenal lens. It is the sharpest ultra-wide angle lens tested to date. The resolution figures are simply stunning and unprecedented specifically at 14mm and that's straight from the maximum aperture setting.     This lens is a perfect example of a situation in which engineers and designers had more to say than accountants. If we start from an assumption that we don’t have to worry about the price and dimensions too much because a professional will understand that good optics must be expensive and must weigh a bit, we get a device in the style of the Nikkor 14-24 mm.     I have been using Nikon products for well over 40 years and, although I would call myself only an accomplished amateur photographer, I know what makes a good lens. Of course I grew up in the days of film cameras and Nikon Photomic FTN I think it was, using prime lenses and thought, in those days, they were the only way to go and they were.     This lens is just excellent. It has no competitors. It's just the best on the market. Great build quality, excellent performance. Almost no distortions, performs well on every f-stop from 14 to 24mm. The only complaint would be about filters, but it's possible to use special LEE adapter and filters, so for me it's just the only wide angle lens I would have ever considered.
