    It's been a long time since I wanted a scanner for my olds 35 mm negatives. So after a search on Internet I chose this flatbed scanner from Epson. I'm very pleased with this product. I scanned manly black & white negatives and slides with very good results. But now I use this scanner more often for coping documents and the results are excellent.     I bought this scanner under the impression that for a consumer price, I would be getting near-professional results. I set the bar pretty low with consumer film scanners, because of numerous optical factors that can interfere with a really good scan (manual focus among them).     My old HP ScanJet 3570c scanner finally went bonkers so it was time for a replacement. There is no comparison between the two even when the HP was brand new. The Epson V300 produces color accurate and magnificently sharp scanned images. I've scanned old photos from the 70's and old brown newspaper clippings and the scanner has the ability to help minimize and remove dust/scratches and can restore the color.     I'm a graphic designer. When I was in college back in the 90's- I had a PowerMac & a SCSI Epson Scanner. The PowerMac died before the scanner did & I migrated to a PC & didn't get a SCSI controller since they are expensive. Instead, I got an HP scanner with the PC that I had bought at the time.
